News Diary: Year to Date 30th April 2007.

Karl Noonan loves to write software. He has just finished an accurate ink consumption program for use at a site with the Reggiani Printer The Dream™.

He also has extended the range of pastel colours. When using pigments every extension makes a  difference our clients’ work. Now  that new preparations for cloths are giving brighter pigment printed results, our no longer worry whether their colours are attainable. For the home textile market this is certainly true our clients can hit the colours they want.

Colour is something which needs to be worked and extended continuously and when he is busy at his desk usually is because Karl has thought of a new solution to improve the resulting colour trian files. By setting standard at CMC delta e of 1 using the Profiler Plus, he is continuously pressured to attain closer results with the Quick Profile version.

Our new ICC profiler for the desktop printers will be a boon for clients because it has made a difference even my small desktop office printer that I mainly use for office work. Making the tutorials was a long task we sincerely hope that the users find our efforts useful.

Ann enjoys making presentations and prepared three lectures and Power Points which were sent to China  presentation at an university in Wuhan. These lectures cover software, colour and hardware. If you are university and would like copies to use for your lectures, please do not hesitate to ask for a copy.

These months there are continuing exhibitions showing the different printers and new inks. Usually the exhibitors are using UV or transfer or solvent based inks. Just occasionally there are shown new water based inks for textiles. At Sign UK Ltd Birmingham during the first week of May 2007 there were areas where different firms & sponsored technical Universities presented lectures about digital printing, colour management and how to use common graphic programs. It was very good to be able to drop in and listen to topics of interest. Personally I learnt a lot about some key graphic programs, which I have been using to prepare designs and leaflets.  Also as mail merging and hot folders are a trend it was possible to see how these were being implemented for different work flows. More of these type of sessions at other exhibitions would be very welcome. We are interested in what will be shown at the Fespa Exhibition in Berlin 5th – 9th June 2007. Watch this space for our comments from this exhibition. It should be a very interesting show.

Our installations this year have been both in textiles as well as in sites where flags are printed. We were delighted  when it was decided in one site to take over the colour books and use these for the digital solvent ink printers as well. These books are calculated in R,G,B, giving maximum colour space within the ink gamut used so it was good to see that operators were not restricting the designs immediately to C,Y,M,K.
